STANDARD MINIMUM ORDER

We have a minimum order spend requirement:

Non Herb Plant Orders – £48.00 inclusive of VAT

Herb Plant Orders – £40.00

(Minimum spend is on plants only.)

All minimum spend orders incur these additional charges which will be added when we contact you for payment:

Handling Fee – £1.80 inclusive of VAT

Delivery Charge – £15.60 inclusive of VAT

Congestion or Emissions Charge (If applicable) – £1.20 inclusive of VAT

The acceptance by us of an order is on the understanding that the following Conditions of Sale are accepted.

STOCK

Every effort is made to keep all stock true to name and free from pests and disease. No plants are guaranteed to flower during the year of purchase. Our liability for plants supplied is limited to the replacement of those plants, or, at our option, to a refund of the price paid. All other claims, including those for consequential loss, are hereby excluded.

ORDERS

Orders are accepted subject to goods being unsold and to crop shortages or failure, howsoever caused

MINIMUM ORDER PER VARIETY

We mainly grow in boxes containing 60 plants, the minimum order per variety is 5 plants. Please indicate any substitutes that may be acceptable in case any varieties are not available. Unless otherwise instructed we reserve the right to substitute at our discretion.

PRICES AND VAT

All good are sold at prices ruling at the date of dispatch.

Deliveries to any of the following are on the condition that the customer arranges their own transport. – UK off shore islands and some Scottish mainland.

All prices on Non-Herb plants are inclusive of VAT & Herbs plants are Zero rated.

PAYMENTS

No money should be sent with orders unless requested.

We phone customers prior the dispatch to let them know when we intend sending their plants and collect the credit card payment at this time. Otherwise a PROFORMA INVOICE (this is an invoice requiring prepayment before goods are released) will be sent, this will show only those plants ready to be dispatched plus VAT, Handling Charge & Carriage, if applicable. It is in your own interest to return your remittance as soon as possible as we only hold the plants for 5 DAYS.

Payments accepted are.

1. BACS.

2. Credit/Debit Cards.

3. Cheques are accepted only by prior arrangement, these will need to be cleared at the bank BEFORE any product is released, this can take 7 working days.

4. Cash.

Please do not send any Credit/Debit Card details electronically or in the post, as we cannot guarantee protection.”

PACKAGING AND DELIVERY CHARGES

Plants sent by carrier are shelf layer packed, in specially designed Cardboard Boxes, growing in the cell trays and are dispatched on a Next Day Service (Some Scotland Area’s 2/3 days.) to ensure plants are received in good condition. Delivery is for the UK Mainland only, Scottish Highlands or a remote UK area which will incur an additional carriage charge per order..

DAMAGE AND COMPLAINTS

Any complaints about damage MUST be notified within 24 hours of dispatch and accompanied by photos and details of shortages or pilferage and must be followed up to us, and to the carriers in WRITING, within 3 DAYS of delivery.

It is essential the Carrier’s delivery note is NOT signed off if the consignment is damaged, please sign as DAMAGED. No refunds or responsibility will be accepted if this condition is not adhered to.

Damaged goods and/or complaints relating to the plants or quantity supplied, should be made in writing within 3 DAYS and the plants retained for inspection if required, along with emailed photos of the damage/plants in question.

Any complaint of alleged defect in the plants and any alleged defect not reasonably apparent upon delivery to be reported in writing and accompanied by photos within 7 days of delivery.

With respect of any complaint, Barretts Bridge Nurseries will be offered all reasonable access and facilities to enable them to investigate the complaint, either by personal inspection of the plants at the delivery address or by asking the Customer to return a sample of the plants along with a sample of the compost used to pot them into upon request.

If you are unsatisfied with your order plants must be returned to us by you the customer in the same condition as they have been received, when we have received the plants and as long as the plants are undamaged we will offer a refund minus any carriage charges.

Any agreed refund will be limited to the value of the plants only.

COMPOST

Barretts recommend their plug plants are potted into a quality professional POTTING compost, NOT a Universal compost, within 3 days of delivery. NEVER add loam to the professional composts, as this will unbalance it, if you need loam in the compost for certain varieties then purchase a suitable John Inns compost which is a balanced loam based compost.

20% of Perlite can be added to the potting compost without unbalancing it and will greatly increase the drainage and allow plenty of air to the roots.

WATERING

Once potted a light watering should be given and the plants inspected the following day to ascertain if that watering has moistened the compost throughout, if not another light watering may be necessary, A good old-fashioned test to ascertain if the compost is wet enough is to squeeze some in one hand, open your hand and with the index finger of the other hand lightly press on the formed ball of compost, if it doesn’t break down easily and stays formed or leaves a wet patch in the hand then it is too wet, if it breaks down easily and still feels moist then the compost has enough water. If when you squeeze the compost, it does not form when you open your hand, this is a good indication it is too dry and needs some water.

If too wet and you are able to squeeze water from the plug plant you can pot the plants up into fresh compost and not water them which would suck the excess water out of the plug, over watering can be one of the major reasons why plants die, as the excess water forces the air out of the compost and starves the roots of oxygen and the plants drown, only water the plants when THEY need it, a little at a time checking the soil underneath as the top can be dry but underneath can be wet.

Barretts do not recommend their 3.5cm or 4.5cm plug plants being planted direct into the soil, and will not entertain any complaint if this is carried out.

Barretts cannot consider any complaint unless clear proof is furnished that the plants that are alleged to be unsatisfactory were the plants supplied by Barretts and that they were grown and handled correctly and professionally following delivery.

COLLECTION FROM THE NURSERY

If you place your order either by phone or on the website and let us know by phone that you wish to collect it, we offer a 5% discount.

Opening hours for collections are from 8.30am to 3.00pm. Monday – Friday

Saturday closed although collections are possible by prior arrangement only.

Sunday closed

If you make a mistake in your order and cannot correct it in the shopping cart, contact us and we will correct the mistake for you.

When confirmation of your order is received, this is to indicate that we have received your order. It does not indicate that a contract exists between us. We have included this term to protect us in the case that a mistake has been made in pricing, we have inadvertently under-priced goods, or we are no longer able to supply a particular product for some reason. In the case of a change of price, we will always contact you first to ensure that the price is acceptable, in a case where any option is not acceptable we will refund your money.

MAKING A PURCHASE:

To make a purchase online just proceed in the normal way. No payment is asked for until we are ready to send your plants, we will them contact you for payment.

SHIPPING AND HANDLING:

We ship to the UK mainland only.

Shipping & Handling costs are added at payment stage, if in doubt please phone.

DELIVERY SCHEDULE:

Delivery for plants is usually 2/5 working days.
Delivery times for other products vary according to the manufacturer, where possible we try to state these with each product.

GROWING:

Barretts do not recommend their plug plants are planted direct into the soil, and will not entertain any complaint if this is carried out.

Barretts 9cm liners are suitable to be planted direct into suitable soil for the specie/variety purchased.

Barretts cannot consider any complaint unless clear proof is furnished that the plants that are alleged to be unsatisfactory were the plants supplied by Barretts and that they were grown and handled correctly and professionally following delivery.

CREDIT CARD SECURITY:

No credit card details are retained or held on our computers or in our offices, any card detail that are collected over the phone are immediately shredded upon completion.

GUARANTEE:

We endeavour to guarantee your satisfaction.
For plant sales we cannot offer a guarantee once the plants have left our nursery as we have no control over how they are planted etc.
If you have a complaint regarding the plants delivered you must contact us within 3 days of delivery and if the containers have been damaged in transit a photo must be send of the damaged container. If these conditions are not adhered to we are unable to entertain any claims.

RETURNS POLICY

When physical goods are returned the purchaser will pay the return carriage costs and there will be a deduction to cover the outgoing carriage and other expenses according to British law.
