Description
Leucanthemella serotina also known as the Autumn Ox-Eye, high daisy, or giant daisy, is a statuesque perennial that brings a burst of brightness to the late-season border. Native to Central and Eastern Europe, this elegant daisy is cherished for its tall stature, crisp white blooms, and ability to thrive in moisture-retentive soils.
Height and Spread
Height: Typically reaches 1.5 to 2 metres (5–6.5 feet), making it one of the tallest daisies available for ornamental use.
Spread: Forms clumps up to 60–100 cm (2–3.3 feet) wide.
Growth Habit: Upright and bushy, with strong stems that rarely require staking.
Its commanding height makes it ideal for the back of borders or as a seasonal screen, where it can rise above lower perennials and provide vertical interest.
Flowers and Foliage
From late summer into November, Leucanthemella serotina produces large, single white daisy flowers with yellow-green centers, each up to 7 cm across. These blooms are held aloft on sturdy stems and are highly attractive to bees and butterflies. The foliage is lance-shaped, mid-green, and remains fresh-looking well into autumn before fading gracefully.
Growing Conditions
Light: Prefers full sun but tolerates light shade.
Soil: Moist, fertile, and well-drained; thrives in loam, clay, or chalk.
Hardiness: Fully hardy (H7), tolerating temperatures down to -20°C.
Aspect: Best in sheltered spots with south or west exposure.
Wildlife and Garden Use
A valuable late nectar source for pollinators, this daisy is ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens, cottage borders, and naturalistic plantings. It pairs beautifully with asters, rudbeckias, and ornamental grasses.
Maintenance Tips
Cut back spent stems in winter and divide clumps every few years in spring to maintain vigor. Deadheading can extend the flowering period.

Our lead time is usually between 14 to 21 working days March to August when we are very busy and 1 to 14 working days September onwards.
We will contact you when your order is ready for dispatch for your payment details and to take any delivery instructions, once we have contacted or have tried to contact you for your payment we will only hold your order for 5 Days before it is cancelled.
If you require your order for a certain week, delivery date or to give details when you are not available or on holiday, please contact us as soon as you have placed your order by phone or email and give us your requirements.
The labels have a pointed end and are stick-in Thermal Black and White Printed Labels designed for inserting into potted plants both indoors and out, they are white and made with specially designed PVC material and have thermal printed black letters.
Plants may also be pre-ordered and picked up from the nursery where a 5% discount will be given, just place your order and let us know by phone or email when you would like to collect your plant order, please give us at least 2 days from the date you have placed your order to your collection date so we have time to get your order ready for collection.”
