Description
CLEMATIS ‘Macropetala‑Hybrid’ belongs to the Atragene group which is a collection of beautifully delicate, early‑flowering clematis known for their nodding, bell‑shaped blooms. These hybrids typically produce semi‑double flowers in shades of pale to mid‑blue, often with a soft, creamy centre appearing in spring, bringing colour at a time when many climbers are still waking up, and some hybrids even offer a light second flush later in the season.
The flowers hang like little lanterns, moving gently in the breeze, and are followed by silky, decorative seedheads, a signature feature of macropetala‑type clematis. Their foliage is finely divided, fresh green, and gives the plant a soft, ferny texture that works beautifully on pergolas, trellises, or scrambling through a small tree.
Macropetala hybrids are especially valued for their cold tolerance, making them ideal for northern gardens, exposed sites, and anyone wanting reliable early colour.
